If you’re looking for some green space, the parks located near The Peabody Memphis provide a glimpse of natural beauty in the middle of downtown Memphis. W.C. Handy Park, named after the “Father of the Blues,” is on historic Beale Street and often has live music. Confederate Park, which sits on the Mississippi River and offers scenic views of the river and Mud Island River Park, is located next to the University of Memphis’ newly renovated law school building, a downtown gem that’s available for tours. A few blocks down from the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star hotel in the city’s business center is Court Square, where locals often grab a quick lunch before heading back to one of the nearby high rises. Farther away is Forrest Park, site of Nathan Bedford Forrest’s grave and memorial.
