Philippe Brainos is the sommelier of Chez Philippe. Coming from the North Carolina resort Pine Needles and Mid Pines Resort, Brainos came to Chez Philippe in August 2011. Originally from Cannes and Paris, France, Brainos has been a sommelier for 35 years. He believes wine and food go together like a good marriage — meaning one should not overpower the other. This sommelier is dedicated to providing the ideal, elegant wine for your meal. Brainos also serves as the maître d’ at the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star restaurant in The Peabody Memphis. There, he is putting his vast knowledge of food and wine to use with an eclectic sommelier’s list and plans to revive the traditional tableside service.
