Located within a shopping and dining complex on Miami’s Brickell Key Drive, NAOE features an interior design that’s minimalist and subdued. It’s their way of expressing the notion that the food — not the décor — that comes first. The intimate restaurant features two wooden tables — a six-seater and a two-top — plus a long five-seat wooden bar that overlooks the open kitchen. The bar is actually the same slab of Japanese cypress wood that was used in the former NAOE location and brought over when the restaurant relocated in 2012. A gray and white color palette dominates the rest of the room, and the walls are purposefully left blank. Cream-colored leather chairs offer comfortable seating, and a black curtain in front of a glass wall separates the main dining area from the foyer, creating a space that feels wholly removed — in a good way — from the tropical glitz and glamor of this Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star restaurant's downtown Miami location.
