Male and female locker rooms are located on the second floor of Spa & Fitness Center at Turnberry Isle Miami, right in front of the grand spiral staircase that connects the three floors of the spa. You’ll first encounter an area with pale wood lockers, where you can disrobe on the padded stools and store your belongings. From there, you’ll pass by a turquoise tiled vanity area filled with mirrors where you can later dry and style your hair. Armchairs provide comfortable seating while you’re grooming or applying make-up, and the green marble countertops offer plenty of space for your cosmetics and toiletries. Continuing further into the locker room, you’ll see a new white-and-turquoise tiled room. A steam room and showers are located here, along with a granite counter that offers a jug of water and cucumber-scented, chilled towels. Finally, in the back of the locker rooms are two private, deep, soaking tubs where you can draw yourself a leisurely bath before heading to your massage.
Once you’ve prepped yourself for your treatment, you’ll exit the locker rooms and make your way around the corner and through the quiet zone. Pass through the long hallway of treatment rooms that are all named after flowers and you’ll encounter the coed Lotus relaxation lounge. The sunny space offers five lounge chairs with brown microfiber blankets, two padded armchairs with stools, and three additional oversized arm chairs. The Miami spa’s space invites you to chat with friends or fellow guests instead of reading one of the magazines displayed, which include publications such as Us, Conde Nast Traveler and W. Framed seascapes adorn the walls, while the windows look out onto the treetops of Turnberry Isle’s lush grounds. If the weather permits, you can also relax and soak up the Florida sun outside on the large terrace that surrounds the relaxation lounge. But if you happen to be in the sunshine state during hurricane season, or if it’s cloudy outside, simply gaze up at the recessed ceiling in the relaxation lounge: it’s painted and illuminated to resemble the sky.
If you're uncomfortable with a coed relaxation lounge, however, you can opt to relax in an enclosed, private waiting area called the Samadhi Room. Plop down on one of the three white lounge chairs and grab a magazine from one of the circular wooden side tables. Or, better yet, sit back in the massage chair and flip on the switch for all the kneading and stretching you desire.
