Milan's jewel box luxury spa
5 Treatment Rooms
The serene private garden at the heart of Bulgari Hotel Milan hints at the tranquility and seclusion that awaits the mind, body and soul inside The Bulgari Spa Milan. At the subterranean level of the five-story boutique hotel, travel-weary rigors are massaged and polished into submission by expert therapists using luxury beauty products focused on restoring equilibrium and wellbeing. The ultra-luxe, minimalist temple of relaxation is the perfect antidote to Milan’s bustling streets with its dim lighting, gold accents and loads of decadent touches.
From morning till night, the Milan spa aims to recalibrate hectic urban pressures in a calm sanctuary laden with natural materials. Treatments take place in five private rooms, including a couples suite with its own private sauna.
For the hotel’s 10th anniversary in 2014, Italian architecture firm Citterio-Viel and Partners renovated the property's original design (including the spa) by tapping into its Italian craftsmanship strengths — natural, elegant elements such as frosted green-tinted glass panels offset soaring marble and stone columns. The main hall opens onto a rectangular swimming pool tiled in glittering gold and emerald Vicenza mosaics. Intimate lounge vignettes are furnished with Citterio-designed collaborations from Italian design giants such as Flexform and B&B Italia. At the pool's head, a green-tinted glass panel leads to a new sauna and Turkish bath furnished with Aphyon stone bench seats. Beyond, glass doors open to a private, open-air lounge appointed with a four-person Jacuzzi and a yoga pavilion with cushions and mats.
Using three high-performance beauty brands — La Mer, Amala, Sohthys — treatments range from Bali to Thai to ancient Oriental rituals, as well as aromatherapy, Ayurveda, shiatsu, reflexology and lymphatic drainage. Beauty services include unisex manicures, pedicures and waxing.
Popular treatments include the 80-minute La Mer Bulgari Facial using nutrient-rich, algae-infused Crème de la Mer to restore moisture and radiance. The often-requested four-hand massage (50 or 80 minutes) is administered by two therapists and uses a combination of stretching, rolling movements and long deep strokes with enriched essential oils. These oils are supplied by German beauty brand Amala, which boasts natural, organic plant and flower extracts such as Indian blue lotus, narcissus, myrtle, cypress, juniper and rosemary. Other popular Amala treatments include an 80-minute Balinese hot stone massage, which begins with a welcoming foot ritual followed by aromatherapy oils poured onto the abdomen and back prior to a hot stone massage.
A dedicated men's line from French beauty brand Sothys boasts the 50-minute Sothys Essential Face Grooming For Men treatment that detoxifies and cleanses with a mask, massage, and serum. The 80-minute Sothys Men's 100 Percent Customized Treatment begins with a sea salt and sugar exfoliation and ends with a soothing nourishing oil, smooth cream and warm wax.
