What is involved in L’Auberge Carmel’s turndown service?

Turndown service at L’Auberge Carmel prepares your guest room at the historic luxury hotel so you can have a restful night’s sleep. Unfortunately, I didn’t receive turndown service, as I was still in the room when the housekeeper came by around 7:15 p.m. and no one returned. But the usual turndown routine involves closing the drapes, tidying up the guest room, taking out the trash and replacing any used towels. The housekeeper will remove the bolster and pillow shams on the bed and fold back both sides of the covers at a 45-degree angle. Pairs of slippers will be placed on either side of the bed. The water bottles in the refrigerator are refilled and finally, they’ll leave milk and housemade cookies from Aubergine for a bedtime snack.
