The Spa at Pebble Beach

A luxe, palatial spa on the California coast
VERIFIED LUXURY
Stepping into The Spa at Pebble Beach is like entering an expansive villa with vintage European architectural details and classic-contemporary décor. The 22,000-square-foot, two-story spa at the iconic Oceanside Pebble Beach resort is a destination for the latest in rejuvenating body and skincare treatments.

The spa owes its unique residential feel to its former life as a private mansion. The neutral color scheme, (think woven sisal, taupe granite and pale woods), is accented by opulent flourishes such as the coral marble mosaic floor and the curved gilt and ebony antique French banister that winds along the staircase up to the second story.

That’s where you’ll find the salon, which features four pedicure thrones and four manicure stations flanked by carved limestone fireplaces, plus a balcony overlooking the courtyard.

Our Inspector's Highlights
• This Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star spa uses only the highest quality products made from plants, herbs and minerals grown locally on California’s Monterey Peninsula.

• Booking a treatment gets you access to the spa’s amenities, which include a whirlpool, steam room, sauna, ionization room, soaking tub, outdoor pool and conservatory and sanctuary for relaxing with complimentary snacks, tea, juice and water.

• The spa’s luxurious, tranquil atmosphere creates an intimate experience for couples to share together.
Things to Know
• Make your reservation at least two weeks in advance in order to book the best date that fits your schedule.

• You must be at least 18 years old to enjoy the spa’s services.

• Be sure to bring your bathing suit if you want to spend time in the signature shower or enjoy the Water Experience.
The Treatments
• You’ll find a large menu of tempting skincare and body treatments ranging from a hot Himalayan salt stone massage and a clarifying silk facial peel to acupuncture and chakra balancing — this luxury spa specializes in both exotic treatments and popular classics.

• A signature service worth exploring is the Lasapa Lelima Purification Treatment, inspired by an indigenous Big Sur tribe. It is essentially a bathing ritual that includes a scrub, wrap and massage and features coastal and white sage, elderberry and blue cornmeal.

• Ladies will not want to skip the signature Women’s Water Experience. It begins with a private soak in a jetted tub and ends with an invigorating deluge from a 16-head shower in an exquisitely tiled space.

• Male guests have specialty services to choose from, too, and can get an herbal compress massage that employs arnica, eucalyptus and rosemary plus Thai-inspired massage moves to melt away muscle tension after a day on the links.
The Facilities
• Services are performed in one of the 28 restful treatment rooms, some of which are outfitted with fireplaces.

• Each dressing area offers a sauna, whirlpool, steam room and an inhalation room with negative ionizers and trays of aromatherapy oils.

• The conservatory is a sun-drenched social space with a greenhouse-style roof and sprays of white phalaenopsis orchids.

• Just across the hall, you’ll find the sanctuary, a quietly stunning octagonal room that’s designed for cocooning and silent reflection — both made easier with its central fire bowl.

• There’s also an outdoor pool, and a spa boutique where you can shop the skincare lines used in treatments and other curated goods like clothing and home accessories.
