There’s no bad time to visit Hotel Monteleone, since festivals, conferences and celebrations happen year-round in New Orleans. Though the excruciatingly hot months of summer are not the city’s best, the largest spirit event in the world, Tales of the Cocktail, takes place every July at Hotel Monteleone. It fills up with cocktail aficionados, mixologists and celebrities who want to imbibe delicious drinks from around the globe. The Monteleone also hosts the Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival each March; it’s a fitting tribute, since the hotel was featured in Williams’ play The Rose Tattoo and the author was a frequent guest. During Mardi Gras, the Monteleone is right in the middle of the action, only two blocks away from the famous Krewe of Rex parade route and a block from Bourbon Street. But the Monteleone can also be a quiet oasis amid the loud revelry outside its doors, a nice spot for a romantic spa getaway. Many couples choose to have their weddings in the elegant ballrooms of the Monteleone. Both the Riverview and Vieux Carré Rooms, located on the top floor of the New Orleans hotel, offer two of the most beautiful panoramic views in the city.
