When you need to work it out, head to the gym at Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Mandarin Oriental, New York. Located on the 36th floor, the compact and well-laid-out space offers a bright, energetic workout spot. From bamboo floors to iPods on loan, every amenity at the luxury New York hotel’s gym is top notch. As you check in with the attendant, you’ll see a large bowl of apples and strawberries in case you need some quick carbohydrates. It’s also here that you can pick up hand towels, bottles of Mandarin Oriental spring water and headsets should you prefer to watch television from one of the cardio machines. Inside the gym you’ll also find the day’s newspapers, chilled hand towels and citrus-infused iced water. But the gym’s biggest claims to fame are the awesome floor-to-ceiling views of Manhattan and the Hudson River — an inspiration to any athlete using the one of the gym’s five treadmills, four ellipticals and four spinning and seated bikes, all made by Technogym. A full selection of free weights, plus yoga balls, blocks and strength-training equipment is also available for a lower impact workout. We suggest packing your swimsuit, so you won’t miss the excellent 75-foot lap pool located next to the gym, which boasts even more stunning vistas of Manhattan. Open seven days a week, the gym offers a solid way for you to center yourself before or after a busy day in New York.
Our 6,000-square-foot fitness center has state-of-the-art TechnoGym cardiovascular and weight-training equipment for all levels as well as a sauna for you to relax after a tough workout.
