Our Inspector's Highlights
  • Situated in the center of Midtown, the hotel is in the perfect location as it’s near the Theater District, Times Square, shopping on Fifth Avenue, Bryant Park and much more.
  • Although the Forbes Travel Guide Recommended hotel sits in a loud, bustling area, it’s refreshingly quiet inside. It’s nice to come back to the hotel in the evening and enjoy a peaceful lobby area and silent guest room corridors after a long day in the boisterous city.
  • The hotel offers sophistication in its design and presentation. The staff is professional and refined, as is the recently refreshed lobby, which features a combination of Art Deco design with French flair.
  • The Forbes Travel Guide Recommended hotel's restaurant and bar are reminiscent of a Parisian bistro and offer delicious French-inspired fare as well.
Things to Know
  • Located on the lower level, the hotel’s recently updated fitness studio offers all the Technogym cardio and weight training equipment you’ll need to get in a good workout.
  • The marble bathrooms here feature walk-in showers with rain showerheads and separate deep-soaking tubs so you can relax after a long day of sightseeing on your feet.
The Rooms
  • The guest rooms at Sofitel New York are luxurious, spacious and comfortable. For the bustling city of New York, sometimes space is hard to come by, but not here. Even the standard guest rooms are huge and come with large bathrooms that have separate showers and tubs.
  • The Forbes Travel Guide Recommended hotel is also on the quiet side, so you’ll be certain to get a good night’s rest here, especially on the property’s signature Sofitel MyBed.
  • There are classic and superior guest rooms, which are all 350 square feet and offer queen beds or two singles, with the only difference being that the superior rooms are on a higher floor, offering better views of the city.
  • The luxury rooms are on the highest floors and offer 400 square feet of space and king-sized beds. All guest rooms have Bose clock radios, flat-screen TVs, two phone lines, and marble bathrooms with separate showers and tubs.
  • Then, there are 52 one-bedroom suites with grand city vistas as they are located on the higher floors and offer much more space than the regular rooms, with separate bedrooms and living rooms, and the larger suites also feature roomy terraces with plenty of plush seating so you can take in the cityscapes from above while relaxing outside.
The Restaurants
  • Get your French food fix at Social 45 Bar & Bistro, which serves breakfast, lunch and elevated bar bites in a sophisticated, Parisian-like atmosphere.
  • The Croque Monsieur is the sandwich to get. Made with delicious Parisian ham, Gruyère cheese and a truffle béchamel sauce, it is served on thick brioche and comes with a side of addictive chips.
  • If you’re ordering room service for breakfast at the Forbes Travel Guide Recommended hotel, we suggest you order Italian scrambled eggs. They come with sautéed tomatoes and are served with fingerling potatoes alongside a bakery basket of warm croissants.
  • Head to the bar and order a drink from the Paris-meets-New York City-inspired cocktail sections. "A True New Yorker with a Parisian Accent," will enjoy the Nepo Cosmo, made with Patrón Silver tequila, Citroen Ketel One vodka, cointreau, chili, cranberry and coriander, while the "quintessentially French yet with New York flair," should indulge in the Le Yellow Cocktail, crafted with Illegal Joven mezcal, suze, yellow chartreuse and celery bitters."
