John Jacob Astor, the hotel’s original owner and developer, designed The St. Regis New York to feel like a home away from home — and to this day, it offers plenty of special amenities to make you comfortable. Every room has five different magazines for your enjoyment, including Town & Country and Veranda, as well as the hardcover Where New York guidebook and a charming softcover book about the Bloody Mary, reportedly invented at the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel’s King Cole Bar. You can also catch up on the news with The New York Times, delivered to your door each morning.
Turndown service includes two bottles of complimentary water daily, and your room is restocked with ice twice daily, as well. In addition to a fully stocked mini-bar, a bowl of St. Regis chocolates in each room will help satisfy your sweet tooth, or any chocolate cravings you might get while away from home.
Inside the closet you’ll find an umbrella and a shopping bag, and know that the New York hotel offers complimentary shoe shining services — just leave your togs outside your door at night and they’ll be returned to you by the following morning. The lavish bathrooms, meanwhile, come stocked with high-end Remède bath products, including shampoo, body wash, body lotion and our favorite tingly conditioner, as well as few luxe extras like Scope mouthwash and a loofah for bathing. You’ll also find a sewing kit and nail file in the desk drawer, as well as elegant St. Regis stationery and postcards in a letter holder atop the desk.
Should you need anything else, just call or email the butler assigned to your room. He’ll arrive in mere minutes, ready to accommodate any need you may have.
