Located on Central Park South, one of the nicest blocks in New York City and directly across from the Central Park, Marea is in an upscale location to say the least. But, to maintain a relaxing and peaceful setting as expected of a fine dining restaurant, Marea closes off the views of the traffic outside and instead allows guest focus on the meal ahead. Reserving a table in the center of the dining room allows guests to view the surrounding tables and perhaps get a sneak peak of some ideas of to order. We definitely recommend starting with a crudo: sashimi-sized appetizers that come in a wide variety suited for every palate. A favorite of ours on a recent trip to the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star restaurant was the Branzino: local striped bass topped with mussel vinaigrette and sturgeon caviar that was a bursting flavor bomb when eaten. The Brodetto di Pesce entree is a beautiful dish as the seafood soup is poured tableside and the powerful aromatics of the dish waft upwards, making you even more excited to delve into the myriad of fresh seafood swimming below.
