When dining at Masa, you won’t get any special gifts from the chef, but you will get to interact with the kitchen staff and feel engaged throughout the meal. Claim one of the 10 seats at the sushi bar where the chefs work and observe, ask questions and reach for pieces of sushi right out of the chef’s hand. Over the course of the next two to three hours, you’ll experience as intimate a meal as any you’ve had in a Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star restaurant.
After the meal is over, your chef will also ask if there’s any course you’d like to repeat — an unexpected gesture we took advantage of by asking for two more pieces of the melt-on-your-tongue toro. That sounds kind of like a special gift to us.
