Masa, the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star restaurant in Manhattan’s Time Warner Center, isn’t particularly romantic, but the sushi restaurant’s intimate dining experience and top-notch ingredients make it a great location for special occasions. The fixed menu runs $450 to $600 per person, depending on the season, and includes 26 courses, many of which highlight upscale ingredients like toro, caviar and truffles. Dining at Masa typically takes two to three hours and includes one-on-one interaction with the sushi chef, who will answer your questions and pass you dishes throughout the meal. You can only get a table at Masa by making a reservation, though, so be sure to call the reservation line ahead of time to secure your spot. We highly recommend a seat at the sushi bar, where you can dine on a pristine, hinoki-wood table top and watch the chef prepare your courses just inches away. Maybe there’s an engagement ring on one of those plates.
