Masa, a Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star restaurant from Japanese chef Masa Takayama, isn’t the kind of dining experience where you get a lot of time to focus on your partner, but it does offer a unique experience, with a $450 to $600 a person pre-set menu that features toro, caviar and truffles. Snagging a table at Masa is no walk in the park, so you’ll need to call in advance to reserve a table or spot at the sushi bar for your date. And dinner lasts a long time — two to three hours — so take that into consideration if you’re going out for a first date. You’ll want to bring someone you know you can talk to, and who will enjoy fresh seafood, as the sushi entrée features 15 to 20 types of exotic fish. You’ll even get to eat a few of the dishes straight from the chef’s hands if you sit at the sushi bar — it’s definitely a different experience, but one that might not appeal to everyone.
