Royal Palms Resort and Spa

A vintage Spanish Colonial desert escape
VERIFIED LUXURY
Intimate and tranquil, Royal Palms Resort and Spa is a boutique hideaway with quiet pathways, lush gardens, acclaimed cuisine, elegantly appointed guest rooms, villas and casitas, and a storied tradition for providing an exceptional welcome to all guests of this romantic and cozy retreat colored in a golden patina at the base of Camelback Mountain in Phoenix

Stone walkways lead through the resort’s nine acres, taking you through colorful archways and wrought iron gates, past beautiful fountains, courtyards, orange groves and unique private spaces, small sitting areas tucked into the corner of a garden or beside a courtyard fireplace where you can sit quietly and relax.

Once upon a time, guests and nearby residents would gather at the resort’s Orange Tree Dining Room to hear Frank Sinatra Jr., Tony Martin and Patty Andrews along with local talent.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • The Phoenix property is located right between downtown and neighboring Scottsdale, so it’s easy to get in a morning hike on Camelback Mountain, go shopping, or hit up any of the many area restaurants.
  • Alvadora Spa is a calm oasis where you can sneak away for a day of pampering, including whirlpool time. Or, just pop in to get your feet sandal-ready. Another way to relax while staying at the luxury resort is to lie by the pool, which is complete with cool cabanas and a bar.
  • The property began as a private home in the 1920s and first had its go as a resort after World War II, opening to guests in 1948. The resort got new life beginning in the 1990s and now includes a mix of historical buildings and fountains, and new luxuries.
  • Going along with the history of the property is a unique design style with a classic Spanish Colonial vibe that includes many courtyards, stucco fireplaces, exposed wood beams and wrought iron-enclosed terraces.
