The petits fours served at The Fearrington House Restaurant are made by chocolatier and cake designer Jill Leckey, who arrived at the country-chic restaurant in 2005 after training at The French Culinary Institute and the Jacques Torres Chocolate in New York. When we dined at the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star restaurant, they were served several of Leckey’s petits fours, including an almond macaroon with chocolate cream and a chocolate, apricot and coconut cluster. Her expertise as a wedding and specialty cake designer is apparent in her miniature cakes, each one more delicate and precious than the next. You can also buy them boxed to go at The Belted Goat specialty shop nearby.
The mignardise change weekly at The Fearrington House Restaurant but will usually feature a pâte de fruit, a macaron and some brittle along with two or three other items.
