Each course at The Fearrington House Restaurant is elaborately prepared and presented, even when small in size. For example, a first course made up of local asparagus accompanied by golden beet Carpaccio, cured Lomo ham, slivers of hazelnut, honey (made from Fearrington hives), chervil and Parmesan — the dish is artistically and precisely arranged on a glass plate. A dish of seared flounder featured tiny grilled octopus tentacles along with pale vanilla couscous, brunoised mango and fennel, dots of tiny grapes and swooshes of celery root puree, creating a symphony of colors and textures on the plate. Indeed, color and texture seem to be just as strong governing factors as flavor when it comes to chef Colin Bradford’s exquisitely plated cuisine. A seemingly simple cheese soufflé is presented with several different ingredients, all artfully arranged, and you’ll encounter a variety of china and glass plates, which show off the food in different ways. The Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star restaurant excels in dramatic plating that elevates the simple, local and fresh ingredients in every dish.
The food presentation at The Fearrington House Restaurant is very intricate. Each course is like a work of art on the plate.
