The JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa lays claim to being the only authentic Southwestern resort in Scottsdale. Many changes have taken place since the Inn welcomed its first guest on December 15, 1936, but the Southwestern ambiance was never compromised as the resort changed with the times. In fact, the resort went to great lengths to preserve the main lobby’s 1930s adobe bricks during an extensive remodel. Today the lobby, which houses registration, retail space and two restaurants, still features the original Indian hand-painted ceiling beams, adobe structure, and original Aztec-patterned fireplace. The design aesthetic carries throughout the building and the grounds, with luxurious enhancements and modern conveniences. To see the changes over time, stroll through the lobby to view the pictorial history on display.
