In January 2009, The Phoenician resort in Scottsdale completed a massive $70 million makeover to create a more casual, but still elegant, resort atmosphere that, more than three years later, still looks brand-new. The makeover included the total renovation of all 583 guestrooms at this Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star hotel, as well as the main lobby and the tea court. The guest room renovations included all new carpeting and rich fabrics inspired by Sonoran Desert colors, furnishings designed to create a more residential feel and classic Southwestern artwork chosen specifically for each room. The renovation project at this Scottsdale hotel also included a $500,000 revamp of the former tennis garden building to create a new family activity center complete with a 72-inch-wide cinema screen theater and surround-sound speaker system.
