The Cloister has one fairly demanding jogging route: five miles of private beach along the Atlantic Ocean. Running on just about any beach is tough going and a hard workout for your calves and quads — perfect for seasoned runners, but perhaps not the best route for beginners.
If it’s rainy outdoors or slogging through the sand doesn’t sound appealing, stay indoors and head to this Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel’s gym, where you’ll find a number of treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes and weight-training machines. You can also join a group class in everything from yoga and Pilates to water aerobics in the indoor lap pool.
From the front door of the Cloister you can job almost the entire length of Sea Island and paths over to St. Simons Island. For whatever distance you want to run we have a route for you.
