You’ll have no trouble freshening up after a hard workout at the spacious, well-equipped locker room at The Cloister’s gym. The locker rooms at this Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel are attached to the spa. Inside, large light wood lockers hold a terry bathrobe with a soft cream shell, blue jelly slippers and a small sequined silver bag for your jewelry and valuables (the flashy pouch ensures you won’t forget to grab its contents). There are private shower areas and ample toiletries that you won’t have drag from your room. You’ll find disposable toothbrushes, mouthwash, lotion, Secret spray deodorant, curling irons and boar bristle brushes. If you need bobby pins, contact lens cases, contact solution, disposable garments (good in case you forget your swimsuit and want to take a dip in the outdoor plunge pool or the circular indoor hot tub that overlooks the garden), powder, flat irons, ponytail holders, safety pins or scissors, they are available from the front desk.
Don’t miss the tray of complimentary refreshments. There is a towering bowl of red and green apples, but save your appetite for the housemade bars. The Sea Island hotel’s nutritionist, the bubbly Joyce Mattox, worked with the chefs to create healthy, chewy bars in flavors like pineapple coconut, chocolate coffee bean, tea and fruit, chocolate mint and granola. Of course, there’s cold water infused with orange slices, Harney & Sons tea and a specialty white-ginger tea.
Before or after your workout, take a seat in the locker room steam room and sauna, go for a swim in the plunge pool or take a calming walk through The Cloister’s labyrinth, which are all located near the gym locker room.
The locker room is more like a upscale private club. We offer a wide variety of amenities including steam and sauna rooms.
