You’ll find that most of the special amenities at The Cloister are outdoors on beautiful, secluded Sea Island, but there are, however, a few cool amenities also waiting for you in your guest room or suite at this Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel.
The beautiful mahogany desk in all guestrooms and suites is stocked with pre-sharpened old-school forest-green pencils engraved with “The Cloister Sea Island, Georgia” in gold capital letters and the Sea Island hotel’s cream stationery with its logo in gold and forest green. An off-white postcard with a sepia-toned photo of the hotel in its early years is a nice little souvenir to bring home with you. During turndown service, your nightstand will be topped with a large Sea Island gold coin the size of your palm for a bedtime sweet and bottled water. The entryway in the room has a stand with two full-size dark-green umbrellas you can use when the weather isn’t cooperating, or you can simply stay indoors and kick back on a plush ivory couch and watch movies on the 45-inch flat-screen television. Bring DVDs along with you, too, since all accommodations at this Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel are equipped with a DVD player. There’s a smaller wall-mounted TV near the inner bathroom sink as well. And bring your laptop to use the complimentary Wi-Fi.
Or grab one of the comfy white robes and matching slippers from the closet and check out the plentiful reading material. There are hardcover books about the area, like At the End of the Oaks: The Official History of Sea Island Golf Club, The Seasons of Cumberland Island and St. Simons Island: The Gem of Georgia, as well as magazines like Garden & Gun.
