Georgian Room sommelier Ryanne Carrier is not only an expert on all things wine, but she also knows a thing or two about cooking up a storm. Carrier originally studied both cooking and pastries at Kendall College in Chicago, and went on to work at several popular area restaurants, including Blackbird and 312. Throughout her career, she focused on kitchen duties as well as a hands-on approach to wine. She later opened a restaurant with her husband in western Florida, where she developed both the wine program as well as the pastry and cheese menus.
After receiving her first level of master sommelier certification in 2010, she joined The Cloister hotel at Sea Island Resort as sommelier for this Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star restaurant. It’s her food know-how that makes the wine pairings at this excellent restaurant work so wonderfully with chef Daniel Zeal’s thoroughly modern farm-to-table cuisine.
