The five words we’d use to describe the style of Fairmont Peace Hotel are elegant, luxurious, historic, sumptuous and iconic. The Art Deco-inspired, 10-story building follows a consistent design scheme, using straight lines and perpendicular angles in the interior and on the exterior. Most of the building features granite facing, with the ninth floor and iconic pyramidal roof surfaced in terracotta and copper. Upon entering an impressive octagonal rotunda, you’re immediately thrust into the elegant décor of another era. The entire ambience channels the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star hotel’s 1930s roots (it first opened in 1929) with expansive marble flooring, cast-iron moldings, plush furnishings and antique light fixtures.
