The Langham, Xintiandi, Shanghai does not have in-house babysitters; however, if you give the hotel 24 hours' notice it can arrange a sitter through an outside agency. These babysitters speak English or Chinese and will come to the hotel to look after your kids. A good spot for them to hang out is in The Langham’s kid-friendly restaurants, which have cute themed menus just for children. Aside from that, the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star hotel doesn’t offer many amenities for kids. For this reason you may want to arrange for the babysitter to take your little ones on an outside excursion. Western-style playgrounds are almost nonexistent in Shanghai, but many residential complexes have plastic climbing and exercise equipment that your child can run around on (the concierge can direct your babysitter to the nearest one). Another good option for kids is the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium, which is across the river in Lujiazui, the city’s central business district.
