Although children are welcome at all of the restaurants at The Peninsula Shanghai, including the Mediterranean-influenced Sir Elly’s and Chinese restaurant Yi Long Court, room service may be a more comfortable option. Kids can order off a special menu — it doubles as a coloring sheet — that’s just for them. The menu offers dishes like pasta, fried rice, chicken fingers and steamed fish filet. Older children will be happy to order off the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel’s regular room service menu, which features kid-friendly cuisine like minestrone soup with focaccia crouton, pesto and Parmesan; a ground sirloin cheeseburger with bacon, mushrooms, grilled onion or fried egg; and udon noodle soup, with oxtail, bean sprout and forest mushrooms. Your kids may not dig oxtail, but they’ll probably love the noodles.
