The service charge is standard across the board when it comes to luxury hotels in China, but tipping is not. Tipping isn’t customary in China, but if you’ve appreciated the service you’ve gotten from the housekeepers or the newsboy-cap-wearing bellhops at the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel, it never hurts to give a small monetary thank-you.
