The average price of a room at The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong fluctuates based on the season and availability. High season for all Shanghai hotels is April through June and again from September to early November, when the city’s weather is at its best (breezy, temperate and blue-skied). During the hot, humid summer and damp, frigid winter, hotels are emptier and rates dip. On average, prices start at RMB2,900 (US$460) for a room with two twin beds or one king and views of either the Huangpu River or the Bund. Suites, which feature well-appointed sitting areas and perks like slick Rossi coffee machines, start at RMB3,600 (US$571) for an Executive Studio, which is a one-bedroom junior suite with a king-size bed and Bund-side or Huangpu River vistas. Rooms top out at RMB4,900 (US$777), unless you’re booking one of the ultra-luxe Chairman or Presidential suites. All room prices exclude the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel’s standard 15 percent service charge.
