The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong has two restaurants for families with children: Italian spot Scena and Cantonese eatery Jin Xuan. Although Jin Xuan offers kid-friendly dishes, including steamed dumplings (perfectly sized for little hands) and char siu bao (barbecue pork buns), Scena is far better for families. Its dedicated kids menu includes fried rice with chicken and egg, California rolls and chicken nuggets with ketchup, all served in mini portions appropriately priced. Children with more refined palates and larger appetites will do well with Scena’s regular menu, too, which includes dishes like gnocchi and a Caprese salad. Plus, the Italian restaurant offers a decent breakfast buffet with eggs, dim sum, juices and more. Food aside, Jin Xuan is a more formal dining room, with red-topped tables, gold chargers inset with a black leather-like circle, velvety maroon circular booths sectioned off with sheer gold drapes and glass chandeliers. Scena offers a more casual option with light wood tables, short-backed cream armchairs and an open kitchen. Your kiddies will fit right in at this restaurant inside the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel.
