The interior design of Jean Georges starts with its striking, open-plan dining room. Designed by architect Michael Graves, you’ll find high ceilings lined with elegant plates of burnished copper, which absorbs and softens the natural light that pours in through the big wall of windows. Gaze through the windows to see the purple Pearl Tower loom amid the landscape. As dusk falls, strategically placed lamps turn on, bathing the dining room in a wash of warm yellow. Black and dark red dominate the fabric color scheme, and the whole room is dotted with tables that are close enough to feel intimate, but not so close that you’re sniffing your neighbor’s food. Our favorite part of the dining room is the stunning copper open kitchen, where you can watch the efficient buzz of chefs creating your meal.
