Sir Elly’s Restaurant at The Peninsula Shanghai has the bar to end all bars, and that’s not hyperbole. Inside the restaurant you’ll notice a set of bright white stairs leading up one floor. Make the journey upstairs and you’ll be rewarded with one of the city’s best terrace bars, with elaborate postcard-worthy views of Pudong and the signature sights of the Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower and the Shanghai World Financial Center. If it’s too chilly to sip cocktails al fresco, have no fear; there’s a plan B. On the opposite side of the dining room is a circular red-hued bar with tall chairs and plush red sofas that still promises views of the Huangpu River to accompany your classic cocktail.
