The pastry chef at Yi Long Court is Lisa Crowe, who not only creates the light and clever desserts here, but she is also in charge of all the luscious baked goods you’ll find throughout The Peninsula Shanghai — from high tea served in The Lobby to the apple tart at Sir Elly’s. Crowe, a native of England, has always worked in luxury hotels. She’s had stints at big-name hotels like Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London and the Park Lane Hotel, also in London. At the Shanghai restaurant, her desserts straddle the line between Asia and Europe, and may include delicate matcha green tea custards paired with a tiny, chewy chestnut cake or a bowl of tapioca and coconut milk with fresh, seasonal fruit.
