Yang Lu fills the sommelier job at Yi Long Court. Something of a celebrity around town, Yang is considered one of Shanghai’s up-and-coming sommeliers. With a vinter’s degree from Niagara College in Canada, he holds an impressive WSET certification, is a Level 2 certified sommelier and is the first internationally credited sommelier from mainland China. He has also earned prestige at various wine-related competitions, including the 2010 China National Sommelier Contest held in Shanghai (he won first place) and the 2010 Greater China Sommelier Contest (he took home second). In charge of the wine selections for the entire Peninsula Shanghai, the sommelier relishes in the challenge of pairing Cantonese food and wine.
