Singapore's unique retreat

340 Rooms / 63 Suites

When the InterContinental Singapore was being built, the Singaporean government had one stipulation regarding the hotel’s construction: the chain had to keep the original shophouses on the block and incorporate them into the hotel’s design style. Thus, in the hotel’s 384 rooms and 19 suites, you’ll see a unique design throughout that incorporates a Western sensibility with a distinct Peranakan culture. The hotel even boasts unique Shophouse rooms, which directly reflect the influence of Straits Chinese culture and are tastefully decorated with floral fabrics, Oriental carpets and carved hardwood furnishings.

The hotel is located in the heart of Bugis, a vibrant neighborhood that offers plentiful shopping as well as easy walking access to some of the more unique ethnic enclaves such as Little India and Arab Street. However, you’ll find plenty to do in the hotel itself, from splashing around in the outdoor rooftop pool to enjoying cocktails in the serene Lobby Lounge to chowing down on unagi hitsumabushi (a sort of dashi and eel porridge) at the outpost of the renowned Tokyo restaurant Chikuyotei.

The warm and accommodating service truly stands out at this hotel, which caters to both business and leisure travelers. It’s also very family-friendly: There’s a shallow paddling pool for the little ones, and an InterContinental Planet Trekkers Children’s Menu created exclusively for them.
