Hammock Beach Resort’s tucked-away Palm Coast location makes it different from other hotels. Located in northeastern Florida, just an hour south of Jacksonville and north of Daytona, Palm Coast is one of the Sunshine State’s hidden treasures. At the very tip of the coast along the white-sand beach that wraps the Atlantic Ocean is Hammock Beach Resort. It is one of the only beachfront resorts in Palm Coast, and sits on a state-protected natural reserve. For golfers, the hotel offers the most oceanside holes on Florida’s east coast (this is also a favorite feature among our Forbes Travel Guide editors), and beachgoers will love watching the sand turn pink, thanks to the endless coquina shells that wash up ashore.
Hammock Beach also operates a bit differently from other hotels. The St. Augustine hotel is almost like an all-inclusive property; you’ll pay for food and drink, but the activities are all free. So go ahead and play as many rounds of mini-golf as you’d like, cool off at the onsite water park and partake in nightly events like dive-in movies without shelling out anything extra. Hammock Beach is a members, guests and owners community, which means that you might be staying in an owner’s room. Like you, members have access to the golf clubs, restaurants and activities, too. The main difference: Owners and members have discounts on food, drinks and activities, while you pay a daily resort fee (9.75 percent of the nightly rate) that covers things like activities, Internet and valet. That resort fee also takes care of all tips and gratuities (except in the restaurants and spa), so put your wallet away. In fact, you won’t need any cash at all, since your keycard also functions as a credit card while you’re on the grounds. Use it to buy food, spa treatments, drinks and any non-inclusive activities. The charges will get tacked onto your room bill when you check out.
