There are plenty of popular attractions near Château du Sureau, especially given its close proximity to Yosemite National Park. The park‘s legendary scenery and abundant wildlife certainly make it the area’s biggest draw, but there are other neighboring locales to enjoy near this Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel too.
Bass Lake offers boating, waterskiing, fishing and all other types of water sports in a well-maintained, convenient location. Golf lovers can get their fill at one of the area’s three courses, including the historic Wawona Golf Course, a nearly century-old nine-hole course that was the first regulation layout in the Sierra Nevadas.
If you’re not interested in golf, hikes or ski boats, pay a visit to the hotel’s luxurious Four-Star Spa du Sureau. It’s an Art Deco dream adorned with the original glass, fixtures and paintings from the design style’s heyday, and is worth a peek just to see the antiques and try the spa’s raspberry-mint tea and chocolate biscuits. Once you’re there, however, we don’t think you’ll be able to resist the siren call of an hour-long massage or spa facial. We tried the Hikers Repose massage and felt so relaxed afterwards that we could barely stand up — and we hadn’t even been hiking.
