A plush, palatial spa in Taiwan
12 Treatment Rooms
For the ultimate way to nurture your body, visit The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Taipei. The sprawling 11,000-square-foot facility comprises expansive areas for relaxation, wet areas, an outdoor heated swimming pool and 12 treatment rooms. Soothing décor will put you at ease while a wide offering of treatments and therapies harmoniously combine both Oriental and Western techniques for maximum benefits.
You’ll feel calmed as soon as you enter Mandarin Oriental, Taipei's spa, which was designed by Yabu Pushelberg (the firm responsible for dazzling design at The St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort in Miami and Park Hyatt New York in New York City). The reception area is decorated in rich carpets and soothing neutral tones with glowing candles and vases of hydrangeas. The treatment rooms are elegantly designed in gold, beige and cream tones. Luxurious marble sinks, white orchids and muted lighting provide a sophisticated and calming ambience. Throughout the public areas, dark wood interiors, mood lighting and fresh tropical flowers create a unified Eastern look.
Expect Mandarin Oriental’s Signature Spa products, including massage oils and body scrubs, plus bath and shower oils made exclusively by Aromatherapy Associates. The spa also offers renowned Biologique Recherché and Clarins beauty products. For nail services in the salon, choose from SpaRitual’s vegan nail products and OPI lacquers. You can purchase products at the spa boutique, located beside the reception area. Private consultations with a spa associate are available so you can pick the products best for your needs.
The Wet Areas
The expansive wet areas at the spa are an ideal way to unwind before treatments. In the separate male and female facilities, you’ll find experience showers with lights, scents and massaging water jets. Refresh yourself in the vitality pool, equipped with ergonomic loungers with full-body massaging air jets to soothe sore muscles. The steam room features a variety of scents and uses a crystal to maintain its temperature. Other amenities include a well-equipped fitness center, multi-function fitness studio and temperature-controlled outdoor swimming pool.
The 12 treatment rooms include six single, four double and two VIP suites that can serve up to eight to 10 guests. You’ll have a full menu of facials, massages, body treatments and salon services from which to choose. Treat yourself to one of Mandarin Oriental’s signature spa therapies, such as the Oriental Essence body massage or the Quintessence Body Scrub, which both combine ginger, mandarin and frankincense essential oils to realign the body and rejuvenate the skin. For a unique experience, opt for the Formosa (another name for Taiwan) Journey, which incorporates a salt-and-sea-pearl foot polish, white mud body mask, heated oil butterfly massage, and a Taiwanese face and scalp scraping therapy.
The Relaxation Lounge
The candlelit dark wood interior of the Taipei spa’s Tea Lounge sets the scene for utter relaxation. There’s a table in the center with a variety of drinks and snacks. Sip on a glass of fresh passion fruit juice or oolong tea while you nibble on dried fruit, nuts and chocolate-covered almonds. The surrounding space has been sectioned off into semi-private relaxation areas — where you can pick which calming music to listen to — and has adjustable lounge chairs made for lingering.
