A hideaway tucked into English parkland
8 Treatment Rooms
A Berkshire hideaway, The Spa at Coworth Park was designed to complement its stunning surrounding landscape. Tucked into English parkland about an hour outside of London, the spa at the country getaway Coworth Park is an eco-friendly, contemporary gem with bathed in loads of natural light. Jade-green park rolls right up to the building’s front door and even covers its roof (where ingredients used in treatments are grown). The two-story spa itself lies hidden, partially submerged underground and the understated ambience continues inside — nearly every surface, from the walls to the floor, is serenely white. There is a hushed vibe throughout the upper level as robe-wearing guests quietly pad along the corridors from changing room to treatment room to café.
The lower level houses luxurious amenities like the indoor heated swimming pool, a haven of amethyst- and crystal-infused tranquility. (Visit between 9 to 11 a.m. or 4 to 5:30 p.m. and kids of all ages could break the silence.) It’s a lovely space though and you can always retreat to the aromatic steam room, which is off limits to children. There’s also an experience shower and the large glass doors that open out onto the sun terrace with fantastic views of the surrounding parkland.
It’s easy to make a day of it here. The existence of Spatisserie on the upper level means you needn’t take your robe off for lunch. This airy, light-filled eatery serves fruit smoothies, afternoon tea and light healthy meals, as well as bubbly for those more keen to indulge.
The Berkshire spa doesn’t limit you to one product line. Choose from the natural aromatherapy of British brand Aromatherapy Associates, the Swiss-inspired skincare of Carol Joy London and the ancient European healing traditions employed by Kerstin Florian. Don’t know your sandalwood from your eucalyptus? Not to worry, the staff here is experienced in guiding newbies through the menu and in finding just the right mind-bending or skin-altering treatment to boot.
If you want to de-stress, we recommend the Personalised Aromatherapy Massage designed to conquer stress and tension. Tired jetsetters will love the Traveller’s Tonic ritual, a revitalizing service with body brushing, stretches and an invigorating massage. The treatment menu is lengthy (there are no less than nine facial options, for example) and you’ll have your choice of skincare, body and massage treatments, plus luxe manicures and pedicures, too.
This Georgian country house has been updated with wood floors and a neutral color palette that runs the gamut through every possible shade of beige, from fawn to biscuit. As part of the Dorchester Collection, Coworth Park adheres to high service standards and impeccable interior design. Beyond the spa, the parkland setting provides ample recreational activities, including croquet, tennis, horseback riding and even polo lessons.
