At The Jefferson, Washington, D.C., you'll be located just a few blocks from America's premier jogging route — the National Mall. Make a right out of the Four-Star hotel's front door, and you'll get a spectacular view of the Washington Monument, D.C.'s most recognizable landmark. Run south on 16th Street NW, and you'll approach Lafayette Square, a park filled with statues where government workers, lobbyists and journalists enjoy lunch on summer afternoons. Run straight through the park and you'll approach the front fence of the White House.
To reach the Mall from here, make a left at the President's front door and turn right at the next intersection, Pennsylvania Avenue NW and East Executive Avenue NW. Running down this road will take you through the ellipse, the oval road behind the White House, and across Constitution Avenue toward the Monument. Once there, follow the Mall's winding pedestrian trails to visit the Lincoln Memorial, World War II Memorial and Vietnam War Memorial, and to run right up to the Capitol steps.
If you've still got energy, head back to the Jefferson Memorial on foot. Or, if that's all your dogs can handle, hop on the Metro at the Smithsonian station on the blue or orange line to Farragut West station — or the red line at nearby Union Station — to get closer to your oversize bed at the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star hotel.
