There are events for the winter holidays and other special occasions throughout the year at the Forbes Travel Guide Recommended Willard InterContinental in Washington, D.C. Throughout the year, guests and Washington residents alike can enjoy weekend afternoon tea in Peacock Alley, the long, ornate hallway just off the hotel’s lobby. During the weekend tea, well-dressed Washingtonians and their children nibble pastries as a harpist strums nearby. Tea is offered Friday to Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. ($39). A special tea event is held during the National Cherry Blossom Festival, which runs from mid-March through April.
At Kentucky Derby time, the D.C. hotel's Round Robin & Scotch Bar features the mint julep as a signature cocktail and celebrates with a special Bonnets and Bow Ties party. For $75 per person, you can enjoy two drinks, a Southern-themed buffet and special seating during the race.
During the winter, the Willard offers a host of holiday events highlighted by a month-long choral program.
