Each season brings a new planned activity to the Forbes Travel Guide Recommended Willard InterContinental hotel in Washington, D.C. All year, guests and Washington residents alike can enjoy weekend afternoon tea in Peacock Alley, the long, ornate hallway just off the lobby. It’s outfitted with rich burgundy carpet, marble tables and yellow gold fixtures. During the weekend the hallway hosts tea, and well-dressed Washingtonians and their children nibble pastries as a harpist strums nearby. Tea is offered Friday to Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. ($39). A special tea event is held during the National Cherry Blossom Festival, which runs from mid-March through April.

At Kentucky Derby time, the D.C. hotel's Round Robin bar, which features the mint julep as a signature cocktail, celebrates with a special Bonnets and Bow Ties party. For $75 per person, you can enjoy two drinks, a Southern-themed buffet and special seating during the race.

During the winter, the hotel offers a host of holiday events highlighted by a month-long choral program. Singers and choruses from throughout Washington, Virginia and Maryland perform for free in the lobby each day of December until Christmas Eve.

The Willard offers a variety of themed events, seasonally. Join us for the annual Cherry Blossom Celebration, Lucky Lilly Day, Mother’s Day, the Kentucky Derby, the Fourth of July, afternoon tea along Peacock Alley, and our Vendanges celebration held each fall. Our website is updated with our current events.
