When you stay at Willard InterContinental in Washington, D.C., you’re just a few blocks from one of America’s premier jogging routes — the National Mall.
To get there from the Forbes Travel Guide Recommended hotel, make a right out of the hotel’s front door and head straight for the White House. Take a second to check it out, then make a left on 15th Street NW. Run one block, and you’re there (Constitution Avenue is the northern border of the Mall). Once there, use the mall’s winding pedestrian trails to visit the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, World War II Memorial and Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and run right up to the Capitol steps.
For a scenic detour, follow signs from the World War II Memorial to the FDR Memorial, an often-ignored treasure that includes waterfalls and multiple parks outlining President Roosevelt’s four terms as chief executive.
Visit the front desk or the Willard concierge to pick up a jogging map. Enjoy a run along the National Mall and take in the sights and sounds of our nation’s capital.
