Sea Island

Set on Georgia’s southern coast, Sea Island was created in the 1920s by Hudson Motor Company magnate Howard Coffin as a retreat. The private island continues to carry out Coffin’s mission, offering five miles of beaches and a tucked-away location halfway between Savannah and Jacksonville. Its Atlantic Ocean setting makes Sea Island a good spot for yachting, kayaking, fishing and swimming. Golfers come to the warm destination to play on the three 18-hole championship courses. But it sticks with its origins as a resort island, with two Five-Star hotels — The Cloister and The Lodge at Sea Island Golf Club — being the main attractions.
