Le Taha’a by Pearl Resorts is aptly named, as it is on the island of Taha’a, which is part of the Society Islands along with Bora Bora, Maupiti and Hauhine. The island’s fertile grounds have earned it the nickname of the “Vanilla Island” due to the Tahitian plant that grows here with abundance.
The tropical grounds are rich with native plants, and the ancient trees and coral garden and nursery hold center court here, with the property built around preserving and protecting the surrounding nature. There are 59 rooms and suites, including overwater villas. These accommodations include soaring ceilings, sculptures and local artwork, private plunge pools and tropical decor with a color palette of white, blue and natural wood.
There are three restaurants and two bars to choose from, including a treetop eatery that serves more casual fare, a poolside stop and a fine dining restaurant featuring traditional Polynesian fare fused with French flavors.
Unwind at Tāvai Spa, where most treatments are centered around local traditions and include the use of a custom oil blend made from coconuts and local flowers. Other onsite activities include tennis, swimming, wood carving demonstrations, pond frond weaving lessons and traditional dancing ceremonies at the paepae, a community square paved with volcanic stones.
