Atlantis, The Palm

Dubai’s exciting family-friendly island destination
VERIFIED LUXURY

Set foot into the bustling lobby of Atlantis, The Palm and you will have left behind the city of skyscrapers to find yourself in a fantastical space where every detail is inspired by the mythical lost island. You can’t help but gape in wonder at the nearly 60-foot-high Chihuly sculpture — taking cues from marine creatures, it’s made of 3,000-plus pieces of blown glass in a medley of blues and greens rising up to become fiery orange-reds, all surrounded by a reflective pool.

Located on Palm Jumeirah, Atlantis, The Palm is one of Dubai’s most popular resorts. The first of its kind in the city, the sprawling entertainment retreat is an exciting destination in its own right that is ideal for a family vacation.

With 1,548 spacious rooms, several marine attractions and entertainment venues, a spa and a host of top-notch restaurants, Atlantis, The Palm provides a memorable getaway for fun seekers.

  • All resort guests enjoy gratis access to Aquaventure, the onsite waterpark with more than 30 rides for both adults and kids. Among the myriad waterslides, lazy river, beach and zipline, park highlights include the near-vertical Leap of Faith ride (a 90-foot drop through a shark-filled aquarium) and interactive animal experiences such as Shark Safari and a stingray-feeding experience.
  • After an adrenaline-packed day, head for the sprawling AWAKEN Wellness spa. Spread across two floors are 27 treatment rooms where you can indulge in a menu of more than 60 services ranging from hydrating facials to cryotherapy.
  • Wavehouse is a fantastic family-friendly entertainment destination and the only one of its kind in Dubai. The trendy venue houses a retro games arcade, obstacle courses, soft play areas, a bowling alley, a restaurant and bar, a terrace with live bands, and a wave rider, all under the same roof.
  • When you’re ready to relax, head for the newly opened White Beach club. Sip on cocktails by the Instagrammable infinity pool, work on your tan in a private cabana while listening to live DJ sets or nibble on lobster linguine (it comes highly recommended) at the club’s restaurant.

Things to Know

  • Other than a private white sand beach, you can swim in the lagoon-like Royal Pool while families with young kids can hang out or partake in activities in the shallow Zero Entry Pool. You also can go kayaking and paddleboarding around the island to get in a workout while you soak up some rays.
  • Enjoy complimentary access to Lost Chambers Aquarium, the largest aquatic center in the Middle East and home to 65,000 marine animals and 250 species of fish. Don’t miss the chance to pet virtual polar bears (among other animals) during an augmented reality experience or watch divers feed sharks in the 2.9-million-gallon Ambassador Lagoon.
  • Children under 12 will love the fun activities, video games, climbing walls, arts and crafts, and underwater theater at Atlantis Kids Club, while teens can spend time at The Zone and play foosball, virtual games and musical instruments, and learn how to DJ.
  • Pamper your nails with a pedicure at Pedi:Mani:Cure Studio from renowned French podiatrist Bastien Gonzalez. Continue your primping session with a visit to Gentleman’s Tonic barbershop or ShuiQi Salon for hair services at the Dubai hotel.
  • ShuiQi Fitness Centre is outfitted with top-notch functional training and cardio equipment by Technogym. If you’re looking for more of a challenge, try a boot camp class or sign up for a session with a personal trainer.

The Rooms

  • Accommodations are designed in a soothing palette of neutral tones dressed with colorful coral-inspired cushions and carpets, and afford views over the Arabian Gulf, Palm Jumeirah and the resort’s pools. Marble bathrooms come with freestanding bathtubs and separate walk-in rain showers.
  • For a one-of-a-kind stay, check into one of the resort’s two signature Underwater Suites. Spread over three stories, the 1,776-square-foot spaces feature floor-to-ceiling windows looking directly into Ambassador Lagoon, where sharks and rays swim right past your bed.
  • The palatial three-bedroom Royal Bridge Suite (a hit with celebrities) on the 22nd floor is an experience in opulent living — it’s accessible only by a guarded entrance and private elevator, and features large corridors with hand-painted, arched ceilings, grand chandeliers and one of the most awe-inspiring panoramic views of Palm Jumeirah and the Arabian Gulf as seen from land.
  • Signature suites come with sumptuous touches like soap with 14-karat gold flakes and exclusive custom-made sheets and bathrobes from France. Other perks include 24-hour butler service, private chefs and complimentary extras like airport transfers, poolside cabanas and spa sessions, and access to the Imperial Club Lounge for breakfast, afternoon tea and evening canapés.

The Restaurants

  • The 29 onsite restaurants provide a range of flavors, from Lebanese at celebrated spot Ayamna, to Italian at Ronda Locatelli, which also carries an impressive vegan menu.

  • Sample acclaimed chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s sought-after Japanese-Peruvian cuisine at his eponymous Dubai restaurant. After cocktails and tapas in the sake lounge, head to the Japanese garden to try dishes such as sushi, black cod miso, and wagyu beef tacos.

  • A popular spot for marriage proposals, seafood restaurant Ossiano is a once-in-a-lifetime dining experience where you savor a multi-course meal while admiring the marine residents of Ambassador Lagoon through floor-to-ceiling aquarium-view windows. Mediterranean-inspired sustainable seafood stars in dishes like caramelized black cod with linguine and almond foam, and North Sea langoustine.
  • For an informal dining experience, head to Bread Street Kitchen and Bar from celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. Expect British and other European fare such as beef Wellington, lobster tagliolini, and classic Sunday roast with Yorkshire puddings.
  • Venture to Hakkasan for modern Cantonese fare — try the Peking duck and come for the dim sum Friday brunch.
