Is Bouley a romantic restaurant?

With its lush tapestries, vibrant French provincial paintings, vaulted farmhouse ceiling and moody lighting, Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star Bouley is the epitome of a romantic restaurant — we’d even go as far as to count it among our favorite spots for romance in New York City. The quiet atmosphere — punctuated ever so slightly by subdued instrumental music — lends itself well to intimate conversations (no yelling required), and plenty of tables offer banquette seating for two, so you and your companion can cozy up next to each other. Plus, with its optional (and regularly truffle-laden) tasting menu format, the French restaurant offers the perfect excuse to playfully offer a bite or two off of your own plate. To really get your date purring “ooh, la, la,” we recommend sitting in the library toward the back of the restaurant. Its slightly secluded feel and even dimmer lighting heighten the romance factor by at least a factor of 10. Alternatively, nab one of the tables in front of the roaring fireplace to up the romantic ante.
