What are the rooms like at The Breakers Palm Beach?

Answers from Our Experts (2)

Guest rooms at The Breakers Palm Beach vary in size and in views, but most all of them come with the same amenities (including complimentary kids' perks and fitness classes). Rooms feature modern décor with a seaside theme, such as curtains with coral reefs printed on them and the use of blue and green hues. Other décor elements include eight-inch crown moldings as well as black-and-white framed photos of The Breakers. Even the flush-mount lights have a coral reef-like covering and there are rattan furniture pieces to firm up the beach theme. You’ll have a Sony radio/alarm clock with an iPod dock/charger and, in the bathroom, a small television built into the mirror. Each room has one or two flat-screen televisions in the main guest room, as well as Wi-Fi and useful items like a serving tray, two luggage racks, an ironing board, an iron, a safe and a recycling bag. In 2011, The Breakers Palm Beach completed a five-year, $80 million renovation and redesign of all 540 guest rooms. The result is new décor that is modern and airy while still paying homage to the resort’s history and location. The dark-wood furniture and fabric patterns vary, but each room has a soft blue and white or green and white color palette. Subtle nods to the ocean — of which many rooms and suites offer expansive views — include cream-on-white embroidered waves on sheets, coral designs on light fixtures and seashell motifs on drapes. The accommodations, which range from 300-square-foot deluxe rooms to the 1,700-square-foot imperial designer suite created by Badgley Mischka, are rich with Palm Beach imagery such as black-and-white photographs of the luxury hotel’s original beach club and books featuring local landscapes.

Other small details prove to be big conveniences: Each bedside table features two easy-access outlets on its side; dressers have ample space and soft-close drawers; there’s a reusable, take-home tote bag in the closet; Wi-Fi and bottled water are complimentary; and flat-screen TVs, DVD players and iPod docking stations are welcome technological touches. Every marble bathroom is well stocked with amenities, too, including TVs, hair dryers and private-label Sun Petals bath products.
