The Spa at Stein Eriksen Lodge in Park City lists its massages under the heading “Personalized Body Work.” This feels appropriate, as the massages offered at this Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Park City spa are designed to address your personal needs, and there are a variety of techniques for you to choose from. For lower back pain, you can’t beat the Ashiatsu massage, in which therapists hold on to wooden bars on the ceiling and walk on your back. This crazy-but-awesome treatment is the way to go if you prefer massages that target the lower back. Guests who head straight from the superb skiing at the resort will love the Ski and Hiker Boot Relief massage, which uses reflexology to not only soothe tired feet, but relax your entire body through key pressure points. After a particularly long day of skiing or hiking, you will definitely appreciate the Soak and Muscle therapy, which beings with a soothing soak infused with sage, peppermint and wintergreen. Once your muscles are loosened up, the full-body massage that follows involves using cold stones on your legs. It might sound shocking but the cold reduces inflammation so you won’t be as sore the next day and can go another round. The 80-minute treatment is just the ticket after hitting it hard on your first day back on the slopes. If you prefer warm stones, there’s also the 80-minute Soothing Stones treatment, which is exactly what the name says — soothing. The treatment uses heated river rocks and a Swedish massage. You can also get a Thai massage or a romantic couples massage in front of the fire; or for something we’ve only seen at this particular spa, try the Great Salt Stone therapy, which uses warmed salt stones. We were told that they release some kind of energy that’s supposed to be healing (and we definitely felt the effects). If you aren’t sure what to get or what you need, book the Stein Signature massage, and your therapist will determine which technique will work best for you after discussing your needs.
We offer a variety of massages, including our Stein signature massage, soothing stone massage, ashiatsu, Mother to Be, Thai, couples and high country scalp massages at our Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star spa.
