Since Cantonese food focuses on seasonal vegetables and light flavorings rather than meat-heavy sauces, there are many vegetarian choices on the menu at Tang Court. Served when in season, the Shanghai restaurant’s peas with bamboo shoots dish fits the bill, as do the braised greens with mushrooms and bamboo pith, sautéed string beans with kale in chili sauce and sautéed asparagus with lily bulb and walnuts.
Keep in mind: You can always ask the waiter for seasonal fresh greens, either poached or sautéed with garlic. All Tang Court’s vegetable dishes work well paired with rice or Shanghainese noodles with spring onions and soy sauce.
